FINE VIKING SHIELD RING C.900-1100 AD, SIZE 8 1/4 10 size 5 ¾ with 2Gilt bronze, size 8 . 3. 0mm flat faced band flaring to the shoulders. Diamond shaped bezel with five symmetrical raised nubs, perhaps representing a saltire or cross, both Christian symbols. Vikings borrowed Christian symbols including the cross, for decoration long before their conversion in the late 11th century. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
